How did the land and sea networks affect India?
India has many precious natural resources, such as spices, diamonds, sapphires gold, pearls, ebony, teak, and fragrant sandalwood. Trade was very important, especially after the Mauryan Empire ended, when nomads invaded and informed the Indians about a network of caravan routes mainly used to trade silk from China to Asia and Rome, called the Silk Roads.
To make money, many Indians acted as middlemen, go-betweens two business transactions. They built trading stations in oases along the Silk Roads, and made great profits doing so.
