What were the reasons for the decline of these empires?
Songhai was one of the most powerful and largest kingdoms in medieval west Africa. But their riches brought invaders, in the late sixteenth century a Moroccan army attacked the capital. Songhai already weakened by internal political struggles, went into decline. Smaller states conquered Mali and the empire crumbled.
